Mark Carney is well known banker and economist born on 16th March 1965 in Fort Smith. From 2013 to 2020, he served as Governor of the Bank of England. He holds British, Canadian and Irish citizenship. From 2011 to 2018, he also served as Chairman of Financial Stability Board. He started his career from working at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 13 years of his career.
He worked in London, Boston, New York City, Toronto and Tokyo offices of Goldman Sachs. Later he joined the Canadian Department of Finance. From 2008 to 2013, he served as Governor of the Bank of Canada. He is also member of international organizations like Group of Thirty and Founding Board of the World Economic Forum.
Mark Carney got his early education from St. Francis Xavier High School, Edmonton. He earned degree in bachelor of economics from Harvard University. He received his doctoral and master degree from University of Oxford at Nuffield College and St Peter’s College.
He also has honorary degrees in his educational career which include, honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 2013, from the University of Alberta in 2016 and the University of Toronto on 18th June 2018 and honorary degree from London Business School on 16th July 2019.
