Mario Monti is well known Italian economist born on 19th March 1943 in Varese. From 2011 to 2013, he served as Prime Minister of Italy, in spite of at no time been an elected politician. In the wake of Italian debt crisis, he led the government of technocrats. From 1995 to 2004 he served as a European Commissioner with responsibility for the custom and taxation, services and internal market.
Mario Monti earned early education from private Leo XIII High School and in 1965 he joined Bocconi University of Milan where he received degree in economics. Monti began his academic career at University of Trento, later he moved to University of Turin, where he teach economics from 1970 to 1985. Finally he moved to Bocconi University where he appointed as Rector in 1989 and then President in 1994. He also served as President of the European Money and Finance Forum from 1982 to 1985.
Mario Monti declared his resignation as Prime Minister on 21st December 2012, by fulfilling the public promise that he will step down after passing the budget of 2013. During his career, he also take part in several other activities like, he was establishing chairman of Bruegel and member of private Bilderberg Group. He also been an international advisor to The Coca Cola Company and Goldman Sachs.
