He is German economist born on 20th April 1968. He is current chairman of the Board of the Bank for International Settlements and president of Deutsche Bundesbank. He also served as head of Economic and Financial Policy in Federal Chancellery. During the summit of G20 and G8, he was chief negotiator of Federal Republic of Germany.
In 1987, Jens Weidmann graduated from gymnasium in Backnang. After that he studied economics at Aix-Marseille University, the University of Bonn and University of Paris. In 1993, he received diploma in economics.
Jens Weidmann worked at International Monetary Fund from 1997 to 1999. Until 2014 he worked as German Council of Economic Experts, during this time, he played an important role in compiling the 20 points plan for boosting employment and growth. Later he moved to the Bundesbank where he served as head of Monetary Analysis group and Monetary Policy.
Jens Weidmann achieved numerous recognitions due to excellent performance, which include:

- 2014 – Wolfram Engels Award, Stiftung Marktwirtschaft
- International Prize, Friedrich August von Hayek Foundation
- 2016 – Medal for Extraordinary Merits for Bavaria in a United Europe
