Jean-Pierre Roth born on 28th April 1946. He is a Swiss banker who served Swiss National Bank from January 2001 to December 2009, as Chairman. In 1979, he joined Swiss National Bank working in Bern and Zurich. In 1996, he became the vice chairman of governing board, later in 2001, he became chairman of the governing board. From 2001 to 2009, Jean-Pierre Roth also served the Washington based International Monetary Funds as governor. He also served as chairman of board of director of the Bank for International Settlement. Recently Jean-Pierre Roth is member of Swatch Group and Nestle.
Jean-Pierre Roth received degree in doctorate in economics from the Graduate Institute of International Studies. He pursued his postdoctoral studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jean-Pierre Roth has three children, he took early retirement in 2009. He and his family live in Geneva.
