Ian Macfarlane is an Australian Economist born on June 22, 1946. Ian Macfarlane was Governor of Australians central bank and Reserve Bank of Australia from 1996 to 2006. He also served as former Chairman of the Council of Financial Regulators and Chairman of the Payments System Board of the Reserve Bank.
Ian Macfarlane received his degree in Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne in 1968 and degree in Master of Economics in 1971. He worked in University of Oxford at the Institute of Economics and Statistics from 1971 to 1972. Then he moves to Paris and served the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development until 1978.
Ian Macfarlane was awarded with Australian highest honor, Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia. He was honored due to excellent and extraordinary performance in stabilization of central bank and Australian financial system and best operation of economic and monetary policy in both domestic and international sphere.
