An Australian economist was born on 23rd January 1958 and served as 7th Governor of Reserve Bank of Australia from 2006 to 2016.
In 1979, Glenn Stevens graduated from University of Sydney with degree in Bachelor of Economics. Subsequently graduated in Master of Arts from University of Western Ontario. In 2014, from University of Western Ontario, he was awarded a “honoris causa” a Doctorate of Laws.
Prior to 1990 after holding various positions in bank, at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco he accepted a position as Visiting Scholar. Afterward he served as Head of the International Department and Head of Economic Analysis Department in Reserve Bank of Australia. Glenn Stevens also appointed as Assistant Governor Economics from 1996 to 2001, erstwhile to his selection as Deputy Governor in December 2001.
In 2016, Glenn Stevens was selected as Companion of the Order of Australia for important service to the Central Banks and financial sectors through the leadership role, to the execution of economic and innovatory monetary policy, to the community and to international financial regulations.
