Since 1969, dollar is an official currency of Jamaica with currency code JMD and symbol J$, sign distinguish it from other dollar currencies. The Jamaican dollar is further divided into 100 cents. The banknotes of 50 cents, J$1, J$2 and J$10 were introduced in on September 1969. The banknotes of J$5 introduced on 20th October 1970 and J$20 in June 1976. Later the banknote of 50 cents was replaced with coin. Banknote of J$100 was added in December 1986 and J$50 on 27th July 1988. The circulation and use of J$2 note was stopped in 1994, while banknote of J$1 was replaced with coin.
