Guinea-francs was replaced by syli in 1971 at the rate of 1 syli = 10 franc. In 1985, Guinea-francs was reintroduced as currency of Guinea. Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea is responsible authority for issuing banknotes. Recently frequently used banknotes of 100, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 francs and rarely used 25, 50 francs and coins of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 francs are circulating in Guinea economy.
